How to set time in DGL-4500
« on: November 09, 2011, 11:42:53 AM »

I was looking at my router device info and I noticed that the time and date is not shown correctly.  The date is 2004.  Everything else on my network shows the correct time and date.  I can't seem to find a setting to allow me to change it though.  Anyone know how?

Go under:

Tools --> Time.

That's where you can set the time.  I have mine set for Automatic Time Configuration

 I recommend using and NTP server like time.nist.gov  ;)

Yea, I tried that, it did not work.  I had to copy the time from my PC to make it show the time properly.  It might have something to do with the firewall setting in my dsl router/modem.

I use ntp1.dlink.com with no issues.  Have you tried that one?

Sometimes it can take some time to set NTP correctly, and sometimes it needs to be within a certain range before it will actually work (also a reboot normally will force a update/query).

I've found that the dlink NTP service a bit buggy, especially on the dir-685.  However, the 4500 seems mostly stable.  I my personal favorite for NTP services is pool.ntp.org.  I use this both professionally and personally as it has a "pool" of ntp servers so if one goes down or are not reachable, the others will respond.  Generally there are 3 servers listed.
