DSR-1000N Wan connection problem after firmware update
« on: January 14, 2014, 10:50:08 AM »

Hi all,

I have just updated the firmware on our DSR-1000n router.  Updated to 1.08B77 and immediately had packet loss.

A ping receives a reply for ~ 5 seconds and then times out for ~ 20 secs.  I have reset the router and set back up, this did not help.

I am using a WAN connection that does not require authentication.  I tested the WAN connection on a different router, this worked fine, ruling out the WAN connection itself.

Has anyone else run into any issues with this update?  Anyone have any ideas on this one?  Also does anyone know if its possible to download old firmware versions.  I would like to roll back the update to see if this resolves the issue.

Many thanks,
Nath

Link>Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch?
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
  • What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?
  • Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values
  • For DSL/PPPoE connections on the router, ensure that "Always ON" option is enabled.

Hi FuryNutz,

Thanks for the quick reply...

Region is uk, wired connection, a factory reset was performed before and after, the router has been setup from scratch.  The router was working before the firmware update.

Cable, the router is connected to WAN, configured with a staticip

Have you had any similar reports of the issue I am experiencing?

We not not seen this as of yet here in the forums.

I presume one think you could do is to re-load the prior version using the same factory reset procedures and see what happens. If it resolves this issue, then I presume the problem is with FW. If it does not resolve this issue, I presume the problem could be upstream at your ISP source...

If the problem seems to be FW or the router, you'll need to phone contact your regional D-Link support office and get immediate help and information.

Unfortunately, I did not take a backup of the fw before updating.  I can only seem to find the latest fw version on the d-link websiteCan you provide a link to where I can download previous fw version?

Thanks,
Nath

You can find that version here:
http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/downloads2008detail.asp

Use the (WW) file.

I recommend that you re-load this version and then test again. If your not exhibiting any problems with this version, keep it.

If your wanting to upgrade, you may want to test out the last v1.04 or v1.06  build versions and see if the problem appears there.

Let us know how it goes...again, do a factor reset, load FW, factory reset once more after then set up from scratch.

Please use IE or FF with any add-ons disabled when you send the FW and be wired to the router with one PC.

Hi FurryNutz,

Thanks for your help so far.

As suggested, I re-installed the latest firmware using the method you suggested... This made no difference, I still had lots of packet loss.

I have now rolled back the firmware to 1.03B43_WW, now I have no packet loss and all is working as expected.  It looks like there may be a bug in the latest firmware :(.

You mentioned I should contact the support desk to report this.  May I ask, which team should I be contacting?  Would you be able to provide me with a link to the contact information for said team?
