Sounds like you should phone contact D-Link support for your region and inquire about this. Let us know how it goes.

Hi,

I am having the same problem with the same router (DSL-2750U). Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

It is not just pop mail, but also IMAP and Exchange. Email will work fine when I first log in in the morning, but intermittently various emails will lose connection until they are all lost. The only way to fix it is to restart the macbook.

This is a brand new router, my old router still works fine and doesn't lose connection. Etisalat (the terrible telecommunications company in the UAE) who sold me the router, say it is working fine as it holds a connection on their PC (and mine), so they won't allow me to return it and give me my money back. But it won't work with all macbooks in my house - they say it must be a problem with my macs, but as I said before, no problems with my old router.

Regards, Damien.

I found a work-around. It appears to be a DNS problem. Go to System Preferences>Network>Advanced then click on the DNS tab. Under DNS Servers I deleted my routers address and typed in the Google Public DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Restarted mail and it doesn't lose connection again. It worked for both my macbooks.

I'm no techy, but I assume this is just some sort of work-around that keeps the communication between the router and computer open. I read about it over a number of pages listed here (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4268728?start=90&tstart=0). Again, the problem was only between my macbooks and this particular router. There must be a reason why they weren't getting along, but I have no real explanation as to why.

I hope that helps others.

Cheers, Damien.

Glad you found the fix. Seems like a ISP DNS issue.

Enjoy.
