Would Twonky improve media streaming?
« on: October 02, 2013, 07:45:49 AM »

No idea what Twonky is but I seem to read everyone uses it!  As you will see on another thread I have an issue where my Xbox can see all my photo folders but can only show a handful, throwing up a message along the lines of losing connection to the server and to ensure sharing is turned on!

The workaround is that I have to copy them to my PC to throw them to the Xbox via DLNA!  A bit antiquated I think you'll agree but it works and I can't see what the issue is.

This post wasn't resolved and now I have a small issue with my Music (only just got round to putting them on the NAS)!  So far it is working fine and I haven't found any files that haven't been found on the Xbox and my Onkyo amp.  However everything is listed alphabetically which is great for single tracks in a library but awful for an album in which track 1 should be played first.

On researching this issue I found a thread from 2009 that stated this issue was going to be fixed.  Was it?  A handful of IP3 tags have been found - for example it says I only have 13 "House" tracks when there are much more!  Also album art appears to be stripped from the file and placed in the music folders separate to the tracks when copying over (viewable on the NAS as a mapped drive in windows Explorer) however now album art appears on the Xbox.

Not sure how much of this is the 320's limitatations, I would have thought the Xbox would have the "power" to deal with it.  Is this why people use Twonky?  If so, how do you install it and what exactly do I gain as it isn't clear on it's website.
