Hi, just bought a HP7510 printer.  Its wireless and I am having one hell of a problem getting the router to link with it.  I have punched in the dam 64numbers so manytimes I am sick of them.  It asks for my WPA pass so I assume its the 64bit numbers and letters.  I also tried my login to the router and that didn't work!  So I am knocking my head against a brick wall and getting no where.  The router is a DSL-2740R  and there doesn't seem to be a section as I have found before here.  So am really, really hoping that someone can help.  I hate networking problems, as I can usually resolve other problems computer wise, but networking I run a mile as this shows why.  So any help other than a sledge hammer would be gratefully received

Need to set up a WPA or WPA2 password of your choosing on the modem, make it easy for you to remember and doesn't have to be complicated or 64bit numbers. Can be "fluffy" if you like.  ::)

Then try to re-enter that same PW on the printer.

Okay there are 3 settings for wireless setup
Wireless setup network Wizard
Add Wireless Device with WPS Wizard
Manual Wireless setup

Which one will give me the choice to put an easier password in for WPA password on my printer screen?  Putting long 64bit numbers is is doing my head in.  And it doesn't seem to work even though I have it right! Or do I go to someother part of the program?  I know there is setup/maintenance/ Advance.

Thank you for your time

Thanks for your help.  I think I am going to abandon the thing.  I have put in the made up password and then put that into the printer without luck.  I have a friend coming round with a USB cable this morning so problem resolved.  All printing will be done through my computer again.  I can't think what the block is as I have taken down ALL the security software then put it all back.  So not resolved in one way, but resolved the other.  No wonder I hate wireless network stuff it never goes easily.

Thanks

Grr now I can't get the laptop to access the router!  It now says it is a secure network.  I went into the properties of D-Link on the laptop.  I set the setting to WPA-Personal and then the password.  It won't allow me access.  When I put the pin in and the password for accessing the D-Link html pages I was fine.  Now we are in a right dam mess.  I can see why I hate dealing with these wireless things.  Any help would be appreciated

It's recommended to use WPA or WPA2 if the devices support that mode. WEP is less secure. Glad he got it working for you. Enjoy.

Believe me we tried with WAP and the printer recommends it as well.  But we tried on both the laptop and the printer and it wouldn't have it.  We couldn't understand it, but we gave in in the end to WEP.  It is more secure though than before so that is a bonus
