I recently tried resetting my router (dlink dir-655). I am able to connect using my iphone and my mbp if I did not make use of a secure connection. I tried putting a password on a new ssid. My ipad 2 and 2 other windows laptops are able to connect without any problem. My iphone 4s was having a hard time connecting to the new ssid. It does not connect automatically just in case I turn on and off my wifi connection for the iphone. I have to type in the wpa password whenever I had to go online again. FYI, I tried resetting my iphone several times and I still get the same response. As for my mac, it was far more much worse. Whenever I tried to connect to my router. It usually says connection time out. I tried resetting the router one more time again. I had to put in the old ssid and the old wpa password. My Iphone 4s was abe to connect automatically. My mbp did the same thing also. How is this possible? So does it mean I am not able to connect to a new ssid just in case I had to reset my router again?

Welcome!
What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?

Some things to try:
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

Wireless Installation Considerations
What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only.

Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer to find out.
Turn off WISH, and WPS under Advanced.
Turn off Short GI, WLAN Partition, and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
