Router blocking packets...please help
« on: May 27, 2012, 07:16:28 AM »

Hello

I have a DLink DIR-615 rev. B2 firmware 2.25. A few days ago, I started using Comodo Unite for VPN access with friends and LAN gaming. However, just recently the program stopped working correctly. I have reset my configuration, tried multiple different settings, and nothing at all has remotely worked. I hope someone here can help me with this.

Anyways, I looked in my router's logs and found this:

Quote
Port forwarding ALG failed to allocate session for UDP packet from 192.168.0.183:12000 to 91.209.196.69:8000

Those are the ports that I have opened to reach Comodo's servers. Why would the router be blocking them? I have basically every firewall setting disabled and the computer with the IP of 192.168.0.183 is in DMZ zone. I really don't know where to go from here.

Thanks,
Kiotie

Welcome!
.
What region are you located?

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged.
If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.

Some things to try:
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking.

I have d-link DIR 615 E3 router hooked to telephone wire ISP thru' Thomson ST516v6 modem.
DIR 615 is blocking the real time price alerts from tc2000 charting service.
What kind of router setting I might possibly use to allow the alerts thru'?

I'm receiving real time stock prices and price alerts at predetermined events from a tc2000 charting service. tc2000 recently made software revision and price alerts stopped coming thru' in real time.  The would come only if I close and re-open tc2000.  First, programers were trying to find a bug that might be causing it for quite a while, then suggested a test.  I took my laptop to a friend who is using the same ISP but is using a different router and used his inernet connection.  All the alerts were coming thru' nicely at his place.

I would contact the maker of the SW and see if there are any specific ports needed to be opened.
Might need to put your PC in the DMZ to test.
