What version of FW is currently loaded on the 655? If v2.07, please downgrade to v2.03 as v2.07 breaks shareport.

Try version 4 from the DIR-827 site and test. After you connect the drive to the USB port. Reboot the router. While the router is rebooting, start Shareport and wait for the router to come to ready. The router should access the drive while booting.
