Author Topic: DLNA/UPnP server doesn't work on 2.03b (same story...from long time ago)  (Read 9702 times)

Hi all,
I just upgrade to 2.03b cause I couldnt make it work on stock (factory installed) firmware.

Unfortunately, the 2.03 is even worst.. I have a directory list of photos around 12000 pics, in 180 subdirs.
I'm using as DLNA clients:  an android app (skiftka) on both SGS2 and Android TV.
I'm also using a DLNA client on ipad (airAV). Same results on this 3 devices...

Some details where I could find the problem:

a) DLNA server does not advertise instantaneously (i dont now the protocol state machine), but in fact with other DLNA server implementations, the list of directories came rightaway...

b) If I enable/disable DLNA/Upnp service on Admin Server tab, the NAS start advertising at all devices..
note: If I keep the server enable (even, after any library refresh... nothing happens)

c) Once the DLNA server publish his service on devices, I can start deep diving into DLNA folder structure (categories such as "all photos", "folders"..) When finally I found the real "DIRECTORY" who contain the subfolders.. It hangs up.. No more communication between them....

unfortunately I cant run a wireshark on mobile devices, but I'll try to catch up some traces on my laptop using VLC as DLNA/upnp player...

Now, can anybody from DLINK (I mean support o moderator) take this point and ask for a fix?

So frustrating   to see such a long time with DLNA server unsolved...

Txs to all.

Today Update:

I could get captures info from VLC player because it didnt understood the UPnP software from DNS-320.

Anyway: I start over again with others DLNA clients:

* on IPAD:     MediaConnet (free version, only 3 pictures capable).
* on android:  BubbleUPNP

The good news about this apps: They (both) understood the DNS implementation ...  :P (weird!)

The bad news: after test several DLNA/UPnP clients, definitively the DNS320 is not such "standard" or "UPnP compliant"...

So now, dear DLINK support or Moderator.. What Should I expect from DLINK and UPnP sw patch???  ???

2nd day Update

Reducing the number of directories to less than 10 (and photos).. it starts working... with all clients mentioned before, even with VLC on my PC...

2nd Day conclusion:  Too much files or directories make it crazy... Frustrating  :'(

so, guys from Dlink.. (if any).. DLNA piece sucks.. it should be fixed as priority in the next build.. No Excuses please..

Txs.
