I hate to beat a dead horse as it seems there are allot of Shareport issues. However I could be connected to a USB Hard drive and transferring files and all of the sudden loose the connection. It has happened several times. This is all on the wired eithernet side. I will admit that I have the DIR-655 and one or two switches in the mix depending what eithernet cord i am plugged into. I am running Shareport 1.14, the last beta firmware without securespot. All machines in the network are running Vista.  The drive is a Maxtor one touch 750 GB.

Any Ideas why this would be happening. There are 7 computers in the mix and they all seem to encounter this problem at one time or another. Thanks for any hits on the head

The Shareport USB port appears to not be a similar port to most PCs.  You might be able to fix this by adding a "powered" USB hub, since you have found out that the standard port is not providing enough power to the USB port.

The 750 GB drive is self powered by an AC power. I am not sure that is it, but nice guess. It is weird it happens on other PC's also.
