hey guys,
just to share some wisdom gained when trying to attach 3tb disk (WD Caviar ®Green WD30EZRX, listed as unofficially supported) as an USB drive to dns-320
on a side note: to format 3tb disk you need to switch it from mbr- to gpt-disk through win computer management console (compmgmt.msc)
sadly this step makes it inaccessible to nas 320 that only lists manufacturer and product under system status/system info/usb information, not the disk size, nor lets you detect it using storage utility
switching the disk back to mbr and formatting it using 4kb units helps, though that way you only get 2tb even if your hdd is larger
surprisingly, it *does* give you to both read/write access if you format it as ntfs drive, even though the official specs say it works in read-only mode under nfts format
will be more than happy to hear if anyone finds any workaround on how larger than 2tb drives can be accessed through the nas usb port
cheers gsx
