My laptop is not connecting to the modem (D-link DSL-2740B-F1)
For the past few weeks I have been able to fix this by resetting the modem/restarting the laptop and I also did a full restore on the laptop as well as completely reset the modem and updated the firmware. I've also tried two different wireless security settings, WPA and WPA2 neither of which have fixed the problem (though surprisingly it did work for a few days when changing over to to WPA). For the past couple of days the laptop has  not been able to connect to the internet apart from a few times where the connection lasted 2-5 minutes. We have multiple computers and portable devices in the house all of which don't seem to have any issue connecting to the internet so I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Any advice would be appreciated

What region are you located?

Has a Factory Reset been performed?

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.

What wireless modes are you using? Under Setup/Wireless/Manual.
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer to find out. How many?

Yes a factory reset has been preformed for both the modem and the laptop
All the suggestions were attempted but every time a connection was established, it would only be maintained for a few minutes before dropping out again.

Wireless mode - Currently mixed G+N ; tried various and the results were all the same

There's quite a few wireless devices connected, a few laptops, PCs, gaming consoles, iPad and Smartphones, all of which work perfectly fine where this laptop doesn't, no cordless housephone either. I'm at a loss as to why this laptop won't connect. It worked perfectly fine for the first couple of weeks and now even a factory restore won't help. I'd assume there was some sort of damage to the wireless card if not for the fact that it intermittently works perfectly and then the next morning: nothing.

I suspected it may be an IP conflict with one of the other devices but after so many factory resets on both the modem and the laptop it seems farfetched that the problem would re-arise on that particular laptop. Or maybe it's not farfetched at all, I wouldn't know? Any ideas?

I would ensure the WiFi drivers are up to date on the laptop.
I would test the laptop out using the wired LAN connection and see if that connection works as well.

I would temporarily disable the Wifi security to see if the LT will connect and remain connected.

Are there any other near by Wifi routers? How many?
