Web UI not working
« on: April 02, 2014, 01:01:12 PM »

Hi everyone,
I had some troubles making my DNS-320 work, and after some resets, i found that the problem was my new router (which I replaced for the old one). Now everything seems to work, except one thing:
The web ui doesn't work.
- I think it is not an IP problem (I tried DHCP and manual, and I can ping the ip of the nas with no problems)
- The web keeps loading eternally. I cannot arrive to the login page.
- I tried rebooting, hard reset... and it is always the same.
- I also tried to boot it without any hard drive inside, then configuring everything again with the CD provided by d-link.

Nothing seems to work.

Any idea?

Thanks.

Did you try replacing your old router to ensure the router isn't the issue?

Okay, now i've tried to use my other router, the one which gave me problems. Now the web ui works. But I still have the troubles that made me replace that router for another one.

Here they are:
IP is OK, I can access the web.
The device doesn't appear in the d-link storage utility or the provided CD software.
So, I cannot set the hard drive in the Z unit.
Here there are some screenshots.

Any idea?

Thanks for you reply

I could map manually the hard drive to the Z unit (//ip/Volume_1) but I still have the same problem with the cd software and the storage utility.

Perform a factory reset on the DNS-320. This will restore the DNS-320 to the factory default settings, but should not impact your HDD configuration or stored data. This procedure will reset all network settings, user settings, passwords, etc. Next, reboot your router and download and try the latest version of the Setup Wizard.

I've done it before, now i've done it again, and the same result. It seems that the nas is invisible, you only can access it by providing manually the IP address.

I'll provide you some more details:
It is the version B2 with the default firmware.
It is not a Windows/Firewall problem, as i have tested it with another computer and occurs the same.
With my old router (another one which I don't have now) everything worked fine.

Thanks

Practically speaking, the Setup Wizard is not required to configure the DNS-320. I have four ShareCenters of various models and have not used the Setup Wizard. I always create a manual network map in Windows using the IP address.

Yes, it is not a problem on the computer, but I have some other devices that look for smb devices and don't find the NAS, like my TV or some android apps, and then I have to find a way to add manually the address (not always easy or possible).

If you don't know what the problem could be i'll have to give up and keep going this way, but it would be very disappointing.

Thanks.

It would appear that your new router is the problem since everything worked with a previous router.

If you can get at your old router that worked you should check what the settings were as the problem you describe sounds as if something is blocked by the new router.

You can also download a copy of NETSCAN and use it to see what it can find out about the DNS-320 on the network.

What make and model is the new router you are using?  It may be one that we have setup information about and if it is we may be able to point you in the direction for solving your problem.

I don't know how but I've solved part of the problem (maybe it has never existed), now the only thing that doesn't work is the storage utility and the setup Wizard. They still don't detect the NAS.
My router is a Huawei HG532s provided by Orange (Spain).

I can live with that, but I'm still confused about why doesn't the d-link software recognise it with this router.

Thanks for your help!

As far as the Setup Wizard not detecting your DNS-320, you should download the latest version of the Setup Wizard from the mydlink.com/support website. If you performed a firmware upgrade since you received the unit there is a good chance that the Setup Wizard that shipped with the unit is not compatible with your firmware.

No, I didn't upgrade the firmware. And it should be compatible as it worked with the other router.
Anyway, I've downloaded the latest version of the Setup Wizard and it doesn't find the nas.

The problem seems to be between the D-link software and my router.

If Orange in Spain do anything like they do here in France then your router is the problem (they do things like block ports to stop people setting up servers and such like).

Check if NETSCAN can find your DNS-320 - if it can't then the router is blocking ports and they may be a problem to unblock.

You seem to be missing a few.

I just checked a new DNS-320 operating through a switch and there are 21 ports open in the range 21 to 8888.  I will see about listing them after we gave finished the tests on this NAS for the client.
