Firstly, I have a DIR-655, hardware version: A2, and firmware version 1.34NA.
Basically, I want to give one PC complete and total priority over all other pc's, laptops, gaming consoles, cell phones, and other devices in my house.
The PC I want to give priority over all other devices is directly connected into my router.
So far I have used the QOS Engine and WISH, but I'm not sure if I set them up correctly.
For the QOS Engine Rules, I just entered in the IP address of the computer I want to have main priority twice.
So, let's just say, for sake of example, that my ip is 193.167.0.196.
QOS Engine Rules
I have the priority set to 1.
I have the protocol set to 256, Any.
Local IP Range is 193.167.0.196 to 193.167.0.196
Remote IP Range is 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255
And the local and remote port ranges are 0 to 65535
Under WISH RULES, I have it set up like this:
Priority = Voice (VO)
Protocol = 256, Any
Host 1 IP range = 193.167.0.196 to 193.167.0.196
Host 2 IP range = 0.0.0.0 to 255.255.255.255
And both port ranges are 0 to 65535.
So, did I set those up correctly to give that one PC main and total priority over all other devices on the network?
Is there anything else I can do to make sure that PC gets even more priority?
Essentially, the PC I want to give main priority is used in gaming competitions where even the most minute bit of latency causes huge problems. I don't want this PC to ever experience any ping spikes or packet loss because of other devices on the network.
I want this PC to hog all the bandwidth, use up all the resources. If that means the other pc's and devices in the house will go slow, then so be it. I just want this computer to be a complete and total bandwidth hog. I don't want it to ever lag because of other devices and computers on the network.
I greatly appreciate any help.
Thanks guys.
