Connect 645 to Airport Express
« on: January 12, 2013, 10:13:24 AM »

I want to use an airport express for playing music on my stereo with iTunes on my computer.  I understand this is possible but I do not have an ethernet connection near my stereo so I want to connect the airport express wirelessly to my D-Link 645.  I have read varying comments to suggest that this will and will not work.  I understand the D-Link has to have WAP capability but I have also found some posts in other sites suggesting this is not the case.

Has anyone successfully connect a apple airport express wirelessly to their 645?

You'll need to refer to Apples support site and information regarding how to connect the AE to main host routers. The 645 is a stand alone main host router w WIFI and does not support any wireless bridging modes by itself.

However it could support having its WIFI extended or bridged by the use of an AP device that support this such as the AE. One thing to remember is that the 645 has Smartbeam technology which could very well make it not supporting of any other bridging or extending devices.

Let us know how it goes.
