Access controls not working as expected (but likely by design?)
« on: January 15, 2013, 09:38:22 PM »

Hardware Version: A4 Firmware Version: 1.35NA

My goal is to block my kids' devices from accessing the internet after 9. This device is not connected to the wan, only allows access to my LAN. Separate device routes to wan. I suspect that the access control is simply restricting routing to the wan port - is that correct? I'd like to deny layer 2 access completely if I specify mac address, or deny any layer 3 traffic. That doesn't seem to be working, is that by design? If so, is there any way to accomplish my goal on this device?

To test, I have selected all machines, all day, deny access. I am able to access LAN resources still, including the gateway and thus the internet.

Try this?
To set up scheduling:
1. Reserve device IP addresses ON the router under Setup/Networking.
2. Set up a schedule under Tools/Schedule on the routers web page. Customize your dates and times here.
3. Use Access Control under Advanced to apply the customized schedule to a policy and to the PC(s) desired to be controlled.

Thanks for the reply, but did you read my question? You've provided a basic "how to set up scheduled access controls", which answers a question that I did not ask.

Guess you should phone contact DLink support and ask this specific question to them to get the official answer you need .
Good Luck.
