3TB AFT 4k USB GPT disk does not work
« on: January 28, 2013, 07:41:55 AM »

despite the claims in the FAQ and change logs, my DNS-325
Current NAS Firmware Version
1.03
Firmware Date
06/13/2012
does not work with an external USB disk INTENSO 3TB partitioned as a GPT disk (it does work as MBR disk with one 2TB and one 700GB partition).
I was able to partition the disk with gdisk, but the partition does not get recognized by the kernel. I also tried to partition and format the disk with gparted and mkfs.ext3 using my Linux PC, same result, no recognition by the DNS-325.

GPT fdisk (gdisk) version 0.6.13

Partition table scan:
  MBR: protective
  BSD: not present
  APM: not present
  GPT: present

Found valid GPT with protective MBR; using GPT.
Disk /dev/sdc: 732566646 sectors, 2.7 TiB
Logical sector size: 4096 bytes
Disk identifier (GUID): 1DA757E2-0AA1-4FA1-9C3F-BC1E8FFF7A86
Partition table holds up to 128 entries
First usable sector is 6, last usable sector is 732566640
Partitions will be aligned on 256-sector boundaries
Total free space is 250 sectors (1000.0 KiB)

Number  Start (sector)    End (sector)  Size       Code  Name
   1             256       732566640   2.7 TiB     0700  Linux/Windows data

Any help or a bugfix would be really appreciated.
