Link>Welcome!

Please review the ComCast sticky information at the top of this forum.
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
Has a Factory Reset been performed?

What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask.

Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router.
Turn off ALL QoS or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting.
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.

Enable uPnP and Multi-cast Streaming under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding rules.
WAN Port Speed set to Auto or specific speed? Some newer ISP modems support 1000Mb so manually setting to Gb speeds can be supported by the router. Advanced/Advanced Networking/WAN Port Speed
Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP server feature. Tools/Time.

Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.

To check if port are being used, they need to be actively being accessed at the time of when you check and test ports. You'll get false negatives sometimes if you just configure the ports and try to test them. They need to be actively used at the time of testing.

Thanks Furry ... I did follow your information you had given b4 to someone else having issues with remote desk top.  . I will perform a factory reset when i get home . Also should i go ahead and update to the current firmware ? I read the Comcast sticky but don't think that issue comes into play being that I had a Netgear before I upgraded to the 657 and the port forwarding worked fine. It almost seems to me that table or information once set doesn't get updated when you change an ip address. I had DHCP  but changed units to static. Before i did that a couple of things worked WAN wise but after then nothing has worked again .  ( VNC never has worked). Just to make sure it wasn't the cable modem i put the old router back on and all port forwards worked fine. So it must be a setting or software issue.

Ya, I don't see any reason not to up grade. v1.01 is stable.
If you do decide to update, please follow this:
FW Update Process

Let us know the make and model of the ISP modem as well if you can. Seem odd issues with various modems.

Try some of the suggestions when you get a chance too and keep us posted. Here to help ya.  ;)

Ok so reset to factory, Installed firmware update, and changed setting to match diag  information and still cant get in . Yet at home I can pull up cameras and such via port setting just fine. Cant even get to the computer if i put it on the dmz. I'm starting to think i have a bad 657. Also put my old Netgear back on and all port forwarding works . But i really really like my 657  an want to get it working...

You may want to give Virtual Server a go and see how that does. I think sometimes that VS works better for certain platforms that PF does.

Should not have to set up a schedule.

Let see if I can get our resident PF guy online and see if he can help you out here. Might be something not configured right or maybe a problem with the router.

He might not be on line till later.

This might seem like a silly question  but, The check boxes in from of PF and VS  I don't see where they have any info on what they do .. Is the an enable / disable box ?

Yes, most DIR series routers use these boxes that are by default empty. They need to be filled in or checked to actually enable the option.
Has this been done?

LOL. Thats ok. I need to probably put that in with my info and try to remember to have users check those boxes. Glad it's working now.

Enjoy.
