So to use the DIR-655 as an AP only, it must be wired via a CAT5/5e connection back to the "other" router device? I have three floors on which I need coverage. Currently my DIR-655 is on the main floor and my cable modem is next to it (in the entertainment center since the TV and BR player have wired connections for internet). My upstairs coverage is fine, but the basement is weak. What can I put down there to act as a repeater so I can have a solid signal down there too? I was thinking if I got a newer router than I would just use the DIR-655 to do that, but it seems like you are saying that is not possible. Given that fact, rather than replacing the DIR-655 as my primary router, if I leave it in place as is, what can I put in the basement that will not require a wired connection (other than power of course)? Thanks.
