Hi guys,

I've looked up and down the forums here and haven't been able to resolve the problem.

Recently purchased a Samsung UE40ES5500 LED HD 1080p Smart TV and the D-Link DNS-320 ShareCenter Pulse 2x.

Today I've upgraded the firmware for both the TV and the ShareCenter bringing it up to version 2.03. I've enabled the UPnP AV Server and the TV can now see the device - it can't however see any of the files on it. I've got an .MP4 movie on there and a variety of MP3s.

Please help - absolutely no idea what to do now! As I've said I've looked through the forums and read about the various server programs and media centres for the device but many of them involve a PC. The whole point of purchasing the ShareCenter was so that I could bypass the PC entirely.

Log into the device and click the Management tab at the top.

The click account management just below it/then network shares which is in the list on the left hand side.

If you see anything in the middle like volume one and volume two its already sharing (the harddrives)
If not you can create a new share easily.
For making new shares click new/click on the box by the volume you want /all accounts/read/write and red/map archive. (you can do it for certain folder in the volume rather then the whole thing by clicking on the volume name and then selecting the folder instead)

The tv should then see the folders and let you play what you like (or whatever its capable of since not all codecs may be supported for everything..depends on the tv)

You can also add nfs shares which work faster at the same time by click the NFS box when you see it and adding and typing 192.168.1.1/23 in the host box when you see it. (the last part of that number must change for each folder ..example 192.168.1.1/23.....192.168.1.1/24 .

Stick with with with the first menthodas its the SMB standard which the tv should see with no problem and if you find say blueray dont play fast enough you can setup the NFS later if needed.

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately it still isn't working. I've tried a variety of files and none of them appear when accessed via the television. I'd attempted to amend the NFS shares IP addresses but I'm not sure how to figure out what the IP address o***iven folder is.

Are there any other things I can try?

There must be a way to get this working. If the files are shared from my PC for example, the tv sees them and plays them without an issue. Just not from the drive.

Your over complicating things.

Share the volumes in the Nas as i first discriped or if you wish to go even simpler install plex server.

Download and install it on a pc/mac or linux (perfrieable a main one)

Open it and click on the movie section and click on the pencil iron in the right corner and add your folders.
(it well see any drive connected to that computer)
If you have a pc you can add networked drives by right clicking in my computer windows and add network location..make sure you already logged into the nas shortly before so its awake).

You can do the same for music and pictures.
Plex well keep the thing up to date and as long as it running any network tv is going to see it (unless the tv brain dead..lol)

Sometimes you have to reboot the router/computer and nas to get them all on the same page (ip's and the like)

With other then adding the folders there nothing to setup in plex unless you wish to tweak its options.
On a pc its always running in the taskbar right hand cornor and double clicking opens it.

Upside to this besides its ease is you can spend the 5 bucks and by the plex client for android devices or ipads and play any on your plex server on them.
The plex server/client well notice the devices specs and transcode the video if need to play to that devices specs.

Only the plex client cost any thing the server is totally free.

I should have mentioned this earlier since some tv come with plex installed.
Many of the Samsung smart tv do come with it.

Also samsung has pc softer or similar nature for doing something the same as plex if to a lesser degree.
