OK, so Shareport has been working pretty well for the past 3 months. Must be time to rear its ugly head again. I'm stumped! I go to print 2 pages tonight, and no matter what I did it could no longer find my printer. Drawing from past experience I've had to do this a few times so I uninstalled it rebooted and reinstalled it. No go. Shareport comes up fine, but will not see my printer. I also noticed after the reinstall that Shareport will not see my DIR-655 either. I've now done this unistall/reinstall 3 times now, with a Regclean, and full reboot in between each one, but Shareport doesn't see my router. So I know it's not going to work with my printer til I get past that problem. I checked the router and it still shows USB networking where it's supposed to. I remember a few months back reading some posts and maybe a solution to this, but after an hour of searching couldn't find any of them. Router version is 1.21, Shareport is 1.14. That combo has been working so I don't really want to start fidgeting with router firmware right now. I got it setup so that I no longer get the frequent reboots and I'd like to leave it that way. I also checked for stray Shareport files after the installs and there aren't any. Also searched my registry for strays and removed them. Windows Firewall still has the exceptions I set up for Shareport and they are intact. Computer is running XP SP3. Printer is that Kodak 5500 AIO. I'll prob change that out later in the year when I get sick of replacing printheads, but so far Kodak keeps sending me new ones when I ask for nothing, so I'm at least going to use up the ink cartridges I have. It's a shame Kodak is such a pain about drivers, cause the prints are exceptional.
Any way, what do I need to do so Shareport sees my router? I think that's key here. If I can resolve that part, the rest should go back to work. That's what I get for letting my adult kids use my printer on Mother's Day.
