We bought our DIR-655 several years ago and it has been working great for us using DSL.  We recently moved to another state and got our internet hooked up (moved to cable) and can't get the DIR-655 to see the internet.  The internet works great if I just connect it to my computer and when I connect the DIR-655 it says it's connected but can't see the internet.

Has a Factory Reset been performed? Yes
Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates? No updates done since reboot--not sure if it was automatically updating before we moved, I've never done any updates manually
Was the router working before any firmware updates? NA--it was working fine before the move/with a different provider

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
What ISP Service do you have? Cox Communications Cable
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have? Cisco DPQ3212
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Pretty sure it does not have a built in router.

I'm using a MacBook Pro with Safari to work on stuff.  I've tried turning off QOS, Advanced DNS is off, changed the firewall settings.  The wireless is working great, it's just not connecting to the internet...

Look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.0.# address in the WAN IP address field?

A factory reset is not performed at FW upgrade time.

• Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended.

I'm not sure how to get to the routers web page.  When I pull up my computers info, though, the DNS is 68.105.xxx

Wife's picking up a Cat 6 cable to see if that helps.

Sorry, I needed a nap.  Tried the CAT6, no effect (did the hard reboot on the modem/router after putting it on and nothing).  When I go to the status there's nothing in the IP address area.

You are going to want to get to the routers setup page, usually at 192.168.0.1.  Once there you want to go to Setup > Internet. Once there you want to select the manual Internet setup.  Press that button and when the page opens up make sure it says Dynamic IP(DHCP) in the My Internet Connection is box.

Try a factory reset with the button on the back if you can't get there.  Login will be Admin with no password.
