Hello and Help from a fellow DNS-320 User
« on: July 13, 2013, 04:48:29 PM »

Hi just got my new DNS-320 Rev B 1.0FW, I also bought a Seagate Barracuda 1TB drive for it too.
Now i must say its so far been a great NAS (Well its not smoking at the moment which is a good sign) but i seemed to have done the most stupid thing ever.

I placed the New Drive into Slot 2 instead of Slot 1 like a muppet. I have just completed copying a 1TB hard drive that was in a old nas that went bang (Wasn't a Dlink but a ICYBOX no touching them again) so all my data is now on this new Drive abit i have to merge the spilt files from the ICYBOX's stupid Fat32 system to which split 4GB+ files in to two or more segments.

I tried to change the drive to slot one after powering down the Dlink DNS-320 but when i fired it up it wouldn
t even mount the drive but if i placed it slot 2 the info was back.

Is there a way i can move from Slot 2 to 1 and keep my data so when my new drive comes i can then setup another volume without loosing my data.

Also i found out when i tried to setup the Dlink with the DVD the software didn't find the NAS drive i had to use the old fashioned why of using web page once i got the IP for the NAS drive.

Thanks for any help offered on here. Also is there any new firmware for the DNS-320 Rev B as i am currently on Version 1.0

Have you try doing a reset to factory default? IIRC, the NAS (DNS-320 rev A) will recognize the drive even when moved to/from different slot.

Would Resetting the drive cause it to reformat the drives ??. i can give it a try just do not want to risk loosing the data on said drive atm.

Thanks for reply

No, resetting to factory default will not affect existing data on drive.
