Hello!
I apologize in advance if this is some sort of repost or that i haven't looked throughly enough around the forums for post containing this particular problem. I couldn't seem to find any posts that related to this particular problem.
Lets get to the problem:
I have a DIR-655 plugged into my cable modem. Its a Cisco EPC3010 provided by my cableprovider.
I have a desktop computer, a smart TV and an Xbox 360 hooked up to my router via cable, and a smartphone and a tablet via wifi.
The network itself works, as i am able to access the other computers wirelessly via my HomeGroup, but I am not able to connect to the internet. I have troubleshooted via Windows 7, and it tells me my DNS server is not responding.
The weird thing is that when i hook my desktop computer directly to my modem via ethernet cable, i get internet access. However, when my desktop computer is wired to my router, and my router to my modem, i don't get any. So basically, there is something with the router configuration. (Duh...)
The only troubleshooting and efforts to fix the problems myself is upgrading the firmware on my router and resetting both the modem and my router.
I am fairly new to networking, so I don't really know what info to post along with this post. Please tell me, and ill provide that.
Edit: I should mention that this is a problem that sortof just occurred out of the blue. It worked fine yesterday. What happened is that the cable outside my house got cut by accident by some constructionworkers and a guy had to come fix it. I dont see how that would effect my router, but maybe you guys do.
