Hello,

I newly got this dir-657 and am trying to configure multiple global IPs.

I live in an Student Home and got a lan acces with 5  ips. x.x.x.8 to x.x.x.13.
I have multiple pc and devices and try to all connect them givinig each a unique IP.
IS that called IP Aliasing???

how can i route many internal ips/devices onto 5 external ips.

or is the device even able to do so? if not can anyone suggest one?

i think i found a similar question here http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=12020.0 but i dont understand the solution, and the system is different...

• What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
• Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
• What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

• What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
• What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
• What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have?

This router is only capable of handling 1 WAN IP address on the WAN port. I presume you would need a different device for that. I recommend phone contacting D-Link sales or support to ask them if they have a product that will fofill your needs for this.

i already suspected the router to not have that feature.

Saidly i dont know which one could have it, or how it is called.
maybe you could tell me which technical term fits my description?
i know that it exists because my old router had it (10years old ;-)) the menue tab was called "virtual computers"... sure enoth i find tons of google responses but non that is related at all.

(btw the router was a wbr 3406tx LevelOne that accompllished this masterpiece sofar.)

You might ask if the DSR or one of the D-Link firewall devices can do this. You'll need to contact D-Link sales or support and ask them on the phone.

The DIR series of routers are a home and small business class of router, handling 1 WAN IP and many IP devices on the LAN side only.
