syslog question
« on: May 19, 2009, 08:06:32 AM »

from the release notes:

3. Now Support System Logging/FTP Logging.

with the addition of a syslog to the 1.08 beta code, can someone explain the difference between the ffp syslog, and the dlink syslog?

when i looked at my logs:

the system log would show when the admin logged in and out, when the 323 was rebooted, stuff of that nature

the get and put commands, the user and the file

not sure if it shows anymore, that's all mine shows right now

hope that helps

i'm thinking that ffp is actually looking at the linux system log, and should be much more verbose but i don't know how to read them yet.

when i compare what is in the d-link syslog vs. /var/log/messages i think that answers my question. the info in /var is much more comprehensive it would appear
