Taking a Picture When Motion is Detected
« on: October 10, 2013, 06:14:12 PM »

I am able to use all of the features of this camera except, how do you get the camera to take a picture when motion is detected.  Right now, the emails I get only tell me motion was detected and the time.  Big deal.  I know I'm missing something.  Also, why can't a text message be sent instead on an email when motion is detected?

Thanks, Rick.

If you know what your Cell phone provider's email address is for you, then you can email yourself a text message.

Thank you.   I was able to get my filtered emails to text messages (with attachments) to my android phone.  However, I still can't get or find an answer to whether or not the DCS-5010L can take a picture when motion is detected.  If so, HOW do I setup that feature?

Have you logged directly into the camera's FirmWare (F/W) ?

To get a picture emailed you’ll have to set a few things up.

Log in to view your camera.  Click ‘settings’
Then click ‘advance settings’
You’ll get a few warnings as you move along, just click to continue on.
Then click ‘set up’
Then you’ll have to  click and set up each one >‘Motion Detect’  and “Mail’
Don’t forget to click ‘save settings’ when done.

 Good Luck.
