How to get frames/snapshots into email alerts?
« on: October 06, 2013, 10:25:25 AM »

I have 2332L and I just got the email notification working. However, it just sends email without any frames (as my 932L does). So, how to get email with the snapshot sent? It is a bit weird that cheaper 932L sends email with the 6 frames once it detects motion, but this 2332L (4 times more expensive!) can not do it.. (or I just do not how to do it).

If it cannot send snapshots via email, how to get it done (FTP/Network storage/SD card)? I do not have any PC powered on, so can I use SkyDrive or similar to get photos/snapshots saved? If I use SD card, can I watch saved pictures with my Lumia 920 or Nexus 7 or Windows 7 PC?

And THANKS on Dlink WP8 app!!!!!!!

It works if you have it set up correctly.  Different camera models have different firmware that require different setup.  This one requires 3 setups all in the Event setup of the camera setup menus (advanced setup).  I've only done it that way, I have not attempted to set up email through the mydlink website.  Via the camera menus:

First, you define a "Server" with a server type of email, with the email server you'll send though and the target address, and give it a name.

Second, you define a "Media Type", specifying if you want a snapshot, video, or log sent.  Select snapshot.  Also in here, is the number of snapshots to send per event.  This camera is actually more flexible than the others that support one or six.  Here you can choose anywhere between zero and ten (up to 3 pre-trigger, and up to 7 after the event trigger).  Part of this is selecting one of the video profiles. .  I didn't count that as one of the setup steps, but you should also go to the "Audio and Video" tab and set one or more profiles the way you want (for snapshot, only the resolution matters).

Third you define an "Event".  Part of this is selecting which server (that you set up above), and media (that you also set up above, select the name of the one you set up for snapshots) to use. In here you also select what triggers the email, how long to wait before sending the next one, etc.  Make sure you enable the event, along with a schedule when to enable, and save.  If you chose video motion detection, there's a separate setup page where you define the detection area and sensitivity.

I still do not understand...

If I go to Mylink.com, login and check settings: should I check "Send e-mail notifications" and/or "Motion detection"? I suppose that if those are checked it will keep sending me teh notification all the time, not scheduled as I want.. And that is fu***ng annoying, when the timestamps are in INDIAN timezone. Why the hell in earth I want to know when in INDIAN time motion was detected when the camera is in Finland? Just say ONE good reason for this, olease? Or, is this system coded and tested in India?

Also, when I treid to configure time for this: I used FIN timezone and local time -> but still the time is shown wrongly in the snaphots/video. It is unfu***ngbelievable! It shoudl be very BASIC of this, bnot a rocket science, or is it?

So, "One click activation" is a fu***ng lie! You should be shamed when you fool people with this messy setups and advertising lies!

The only good thing is that I can share my feelings on this in social media.. and I can say that I'm not the only one..

Quit using mydlink.com.  Log into the camera's FirmWare (F/W) directly.
