Can you test the 5500 on 5Ghz single N mode and see what happens?
I plan on connecting my 5500 back online this weekend and will test it out. I got some movies to watch.  ;D

Keep us posted.
I'm not going to give up on this router yet since I've had it when it first came out.  Plus the firmware updates have helped give this router potential.  I'm definitely concerned though because my previous router a Netgear WNDR4500 had no issues streaming hi-def movies over the network on it's 5GHz band "N mode" with the same wireless bridge i'm using with my D-link.

Yea I'll change it to N mode tonight and see how it runs.

Did you also want me to try this: "Can you try setting DNS Relay OFF and manually input your ISPs default DNS IP addresses under Setup/Internet and see if this does anything?"  or do you want me to just try the N mode first?

Yes, try DNS relay OFF with manual DNS addresses under Setup/Internet in place...first before changing to single N mode...

Is there a check box for DNS Relay Off? I do not see it but I found where I can manually enter DNS.  Does it turn off DNS Relay if I enter those values in the DNS fields?

Also how does manually inputting my ISPs DNS help with my internal network streaming?  I think it's cause I said WAN earlier when I meant LAN.  If that's the case my bad haha.   This is all internal LAN networking.

Ok so setting my 5Ghz radio for single mode AC, WPA2/AES only, auto chl scan and using a bridged DIR-868L connected to the 5Ghz SSID with 18ft+- distance between 5500 router and bridge semi line of sight with no walls, streaming 800Mb Mp4, 4Gb mkv, and raw 9Gb DVD files seems to work well and doesn't buffer when streaming to a Boxee Box. However raw BD files are buffering every 20-30 seconds and the 5Ghz can'e seem to handle this kind of media. The only routers I was able to use with out seeing much if any buffering with using raw BD files was when the DIR-868L was host router and a DIR-865L was in bridge mode.

I didn't watch an entire movie however I did stream at least 5-10 minutes with out seeing any buffering issues using MP4, mkv and raw DVD files. FW loaded currently is v1.11B03.

DNS Relay is OFF and manual DNS IP addresses are being used.

Update: I watch a raw DVD concert via 5500/868L bridge most of the way thru and didn't notice any issues.
