hey guys first time positing on here read some of the chat on the other topics and everyone seems real helpful so here goes!
My dir 615 which i have had for about a year keeps dropping out randomly throughout the day then coming back.
sometimes it comes back for a bit after a reboot and sometimes it comes back on its own.
when it works it works well and fast.
it is connected to a siemenes speedstream non wireless modem from telstra and for the last 6 months it has started dropping out.
the main pc in the study that is on a wired connection works fine 100% of the time even when no one can log in wirelessly with laptops, phones, playstations etc etc.
i have played around with settings in the router setting page 192.168.0.1 .... has been my mostly visited website lately lol
i have read forums, queried google and now i am here my fitst time posting on a forum.
I am no tech geek ... wish i was. but i am savy enough to hold my own and understand and follow instrunctions by those who are kind enough to help.
I have been told it is something to do with the firmware, an update on windows not communicating with the router (although i dont think this is the case as all devices dont seem able to log in when it is down), ive been told it is to do with the bridge between the modem and the router ( the settings on the modem i have never touched and it wored perfectly for 6-8 months) something to do with the NAT ? or the bridge between modem and router ... ??
also when i say it "drops out" i dont believe it fully does as there is still a wireless signal all devices can still detect the router and even log in....just not have internet acess for example when it drops out on mine or my family members laptop a little exclamation mark witll come over the little signal bars in the bottom right hand corner of the screen on windows and it says please additional log in information may be required and when i click it it directs me to the dlink settings site...and then i dont know what to do as whenever i type any other website i keep getting redirected there until i reset the router then im ok for another few hours or few minutes ....
so yeah...
please help guys lol
cheers in advance.
ps im in australia and my isp is telstra bigpond
