I bought the dcs-5222L for inside the home and so far I'm pretty happy with it except
the static/noise on the pc viewing is absolutely horrible. Same with both DCS-2332L's
I just got over the weekend. However viewing on the Iphone is quite good I assume
because the picture is so small I cant see the horrible static on the Iphone.

Any way to fix this because it looks really really bad?
Also on the app lite, I cant click my predefined camera locations? Wth?
Its takes 20 minutes to pan the camera from one side to another, useless.

Ok main reason I'm in here besides horrible static on all 3 cameras is this..

This camera is sold as an outdoor camera. I'm here in Phoenix, sunny state but its Oct
so not as bright as Aug when I assume the camera wont work at all.

Basically I cant see anything from 8am to even now at 5pm everything is so bleached out
from the sun its way unacceptable to the point I'm taking them back If I cant fix.

I cant see the sidewalk 5 feet away because its too bright wth?

Ive tried everything settings wise and always too bright to use.
By the time I play with the brightness and contrast to get from ____ to c  r  a  p view its way to flat and dull.
I can only use the Ip to the camera to configure it and even then it makes IE crash and slow.
Online dlink I get constant errors and java error that I cant get it to accept. I have to keep hitting allow.
Aggravating.

Is there something I'm missing? I want to get at least 2 more of these 2332's but the other side
of the house is full sun and If this wont work in the shade looking into sunny areas its useless.

The 2nd 2332 I have is in the back yard under 60 feet covered and its ok I guess but its in all shade.

Thanks for any ones time and help. I'm quite good with electronics and building pc's etc so
I'm hoping there is something I missed. For a camera that's sold as an outdoor unit and I cant even
use it under the roof line to view those at my door is unacceptable it must be something I'm doing
and I don't want to return them.

Ok turned flicker off changed exposures. Looked at both cams at 12 pm on iphone from work
it was like looking into the sun completely useless. I  wanted to hang it dial in and use and so far these 2
 cams are 100% useless outside. I don't see a way to change different settings for night and day on page
...54/55/56/57/58/59/60.... There is just one set of image settings I must be blind? How is it I cant hang
this camera up out side and it not get decent picture quality immediately? Also no one knows about the
extreme static in the images on any pc?

Where exactly do I make camera settings for day time and then different settings for night time?
I'm never home when its mid day and I can't make setting changes via dlink iphone is quite aggravating
so I have to wait till Sunday to play with it. I make changes at night and wait till mid next day dial in
cant see anything and get mad. Any help appreciated thanks!

At night I switch it to low noise and higher gain then go to bed.
I go to work in the am assuming the camera will switch to day mode some time.
It seems to use the same settings as the night when it does. Whats the point.
As it is I would need to log in camera in the a.m. switch the setting before I leave?
I still don't see how to have two different settings. It switches from night mode
to day mode on its own ok but it uses my night settings or current settings
and I cant see nothing but white wash as shown. Anyone have any idea?

Yes, you need to reset during the morning... else you will get a white screen.

You might want to try to shade the camera from direct sunlight.  I'm not sure if you turned brightness down to 0 would remove any glare.

I just leave mine on auto, and it works well, except it doesn't see much at night except for things close to the camera.  This is because the camera has only one IR LED, and it's too weak to see anything very far away.  I don't try to adjust the exposure to overcome this, I just let the camera go to (nearly) black.  In my case, I have the camera where I also have an outdoor light with infrared motion detection.  If something moves, that light turns on, then the camera can see better.  That works well enough for me, since if somebody I want to know about is there, the light should turn on then the camera sees them.

If you want the camera to see better at night, you could get a separate IR LED light. There are some made specifically for this purpose. Do a google search on "IR LED Illuminator"".

RYAT3, They are set to AUTO and Sync. With ICR.
I was able to to set exposure on auto and can see well during the day now.
The trade off seams to be what GaryNY said. The dark is no good.

Now this camera changes from night mode to day automatically well.
Why cant the exposure settings and gain change with it?
I can make the night look awesome by setting it to low noise and turn up
the gain. But during the day it would be to bright again. I cant believe
there isn't 2 settings. One for when its in night mode and one for when its in day
mode so I make it look good night day without touching any setting. Am I wrong?

The night mode isn't great, it helps some at dusk/dawn, but in complete darkness the IR LED doesn't illuminate very far.  From your sample picture, your sidewalk may not show up well at night, but I'd guess a person on that sidewalk with their head near the camera might show up better.  But you still won't have a great picture, detail in night mode isn't as good.  If you switch the camera between day/night mode around dusk you can see the night mode can see until closer to dark, but in total darkness the single IR LED doesn't illuminate very far away.

I tried adjusting mine, but no matter what setting I use, I can't get a great picture at night. So I just live with auto. Day mode works fine, and night is OK when my motion activated outside light turns on.  Otherwise, the picture is pretty dark, with just a few shadowy details visible.

I got night mode to work great low noise exposure and high gain.
Problem is when it switches to day mode it keeps that setting. Very stupid
because this would be a decent night and day cam if it switched
exposure modes when it switches night and day. The camera is unfinished
without this ability and I wont buy anymore until it can be done.
Also I should be able to tilt the camera on its side and correct the picture
just like flip and mirror.
