Failed on setup for RAID 1 now HDD dead
« on: November 07, 2013, 06:46:20 AM »

Hi all

I was setting up my DNS-320 version b1 with 2 x WD 2TB Red Hard Drives and everything seem ok until setting up RAID1.

Followed the guide and clicked next to start the process, initialising went ok then came formatting. Left it over night and it did nothing, stuck on 0% and froze. Rebooted both the PC and DNS-320 and now the HDD are not recognised.

I have tried different drives in the NAS and they are showing up ok. The 2 WD drives wont show up in a caddy or straight in the PC. Used Win 8, Win 7 and even a Hirens disk wont recognise them.

Any help??

Search the forum. Its a common issue. Trick is to use one drive at a time and format them both separately then you are able to use them both. Seems to be a "feature"

unable to format any of the drives, coming up with an error code 304, anyone know what this is?

Tried to update the firmware which D-Link support advised but unable to Apply the update, the Apply button is grayed out after selecting the file.
