Hello all,
I just got myself a couple D-link DCS-130L network cameras. I set them up to record on motion detection only. The current record location is my PC. I have two questions:
1.- I set D-viewCam to record on motion as shown in the Manual. However, if I check the web based camera options of each camera, Motion recording is disabled. Does this matter?
2.- I want the cameras to start recording to a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122487&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_- storage router. Will the cameras automatically record to the network storage (once I set the new path)? or does my computer need to be on to route the video?
Thanks in advance.
(now to figure out how to send instant picture shots to my email
)
Edited for clarity
1. No it won't matter. The motion detection for dviewcam is for triggering a recording event. The motion detection on the camera is to trigger whatever event you specified (email alert, phone app notification, ftp picture send, etc...) I have my camera's motion disabled, but dviewcam set up with motion recording fine.
2. Not positive but i'm pretty sure My Computer needs to see it as a drive path if you want to record to it. You might just have to use the Map Network Drive function to the network share, but i'm pretty sure you'll see it as a drive/storage.
