Strange SSID Characters?

Hello,

After resetting my router to factory in attempt to solve my Xbox One issue, when my SSID is scanned it shows with extra characters. Is has strange " Â " within it.

Is this seen on the XB1? What is the SSID name you have? Is this on 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz?

Does the XB1 support 5Ghz?

Try a simple no spaces all alpha character SSID name on the router and check again. Something like abc or abc123

The issue went away after D-Link support helped me wipe everything out and re-do everything.  It was reading that way on my laptop as well for both SSIDs.

I had this same issue when upgrading my firmware and trying to put my SSID back in after the factor reset and upgrade. I copied and pasted the SSID from the router's web page to a text document before the factory reset and firmware upgrade. Then I copied the SSID from the text doc back into the router's setup and that's when I noticed the strange character. When I typed the SSID in manually, the strange character went away.

No. I could see the extra character on almost all of my devices (360, iOS, PC, maybe PS3 - I can't remember). This was actually before the XB1 came out when I ran into this issue. I think it was more of a copy and paste from a web page to a text document and back issue. I believe I was on OsX at the time. Can't recall. Just wanted to share the scenario, in case anyone else experiences it. I did not try to reproduce it as I was glad to just fix it by typing the SSID.

Possible..something being copied or some hidden character coming across. I haven't seen this as of yet.  ::)

This happened to me as well the first time set up the wireless.  I was like that's weird I didn't put those characters in there???  After a re-flash and factory reset I haven't seen this happen again.
