no web interface
« on: December 25, 2013, 01:41:33 PM »

I just bought a pair of DCS-2332L wireless cameras. Both running firmware 1.01.04.

Spent a good while setting up the first one just the way I want it (connected it to my wi-fi network, setup up the motion detection, identified network share location for uploading video clips, etc, etc,)... Got it all working nicely and have been using it for a few days now, tweaking a few settings here and there. Once I was satisfied everything was good, I saved the configuration to a backup file so I could load the config onto the second camera.

So, on to camera #2....   I began by unplugging camera #1, and unpacked the 2nd camera from the box, plugged it in, and ran through the initial setup using the wizard, set the admin password, etc... Once I was logged into the web interface on camera #2, I went straight to the page where you can load a saved configuration file.  I loaded the file that I had previously saved for the first camera, and that's where things basically went off the rails... have not been able to get it working since loading the config file.  Green LED lights up as long as it's connected via wired connection to my switch. It does indeed receive an IP address from the DHCP server. There is also a red light in addition to the green LED. I can ping the IP address that it is assigned, but there is no web interface running on that IP address.

It also seems to be in a perpetual reboot, about every 5 minutes (I hear it make a "click" sound, then the red light goes off for a minute, flashes a couple of times, then both green and red are on for a bit, then it repeats the reboot a few minutes later).

I removed the rear panel and tried holding the reset button for 5, 10, 15 seconds. No luck. Tried removing power, hold reset, re-apply power, and continue holding reset for 10 seconds. Still the same thing.

No web interface, not responding to Telnet either, but it does respond to ping.

Should also mention that if you don't connect the wired RJ45 connection to the switch/router, it shows only a single red LED for a while (stays on solid, not flashing), then after several minutes, the red LED turns to yellow/amber and a blue LED is also displayed on the lower right (also stays on solid).

Got it working, finally. Here's how:

1. Unplugged power
2. Press and hold reset button for about 10-15 seconds
3. While continuing to hold reset button, plug in power cord.
4. Keep holding reset for another 10-15 seconds after the power has been re-applied.
5. Release the reset button and let it boot normally.

After that, it booted up normally, having been reset to factory default settings.

I decided to just duplicate the settings manually, copying each and every setting using camera-1 as the template for camera-2.  Both cameras are now working properly, uploading motion detected video clips to a Samba share on a 2TB hard drive attached via USB port on my ASUS wi-fi router.
