NAS-325, iTunes "server" and iOS devices
« on: January 05, 2014, 12:09:32 PM »

So, I think I'm mis-understanding exactly how the iTunes "server" is supposed to work.

16 port gigabit switch with the NAS-325, PC's wired to it and a N-router.  No VLAN's or routing.

Firmware 1.03
I have my music in \media\music.
I enabled the iTunes server and set it for \media\music.
Music is in folders (artist, album) and this works great with the same files on my PC with iTunes on it.
I also have a folder in there called Movies which contacts a flat level of all my .MP4's.

Here's where I'm confused.

Without ANYTHING else, am I supposed to be able to use my iOS device (iPhone, iPad and Apple TV3) to see and play the media on my NAS-325?

Or, must I also run iTunes on a PC and connect that to the NAS?

If yes to the first... none of my iOS devices see the NAS-325.

Either way, will I also be able to see/play my videos?

Sorry I'm having a dense day, but thanks for the clarification.
