Streaming 3D movies over UPNP
« on: January 07, 2014, 03:29:18 AM »

Hi,

I just bought Philips 42PFL6158K/12 TV and I'm a proud owner of DNS-320 for over 2 years. Streaming movies over DLNA wasn't a problem for me, but I just got a 3D TV and I wanted to test it how it's working. Streaming regular movies that are under 1GB is working great, but last night I downloaded couple of 3D movies for testing purposes of various sizes and none can stream over network, wired nor wireless. When I try to play them TV goes blank for couple of seconds as if it's loading and then I think it just resets. Those same movies can be played over USB memory without a problem. Both devices have latest firmware installed.

Anyone having same issues or has a clue what could be the problem?

I can confirm that the problem lies on ShareCenter - TV relation. I just moved those same 3D movies on my laptop and installed Serviio (I couldn't set WMP to work as a DLNA server) and I'm streaming them right now wirelessly to my TV without a glitch.

You have discovered that all implementations of UPNP are not the same and may, or may not, work together.  In fact some TV manufacturers seem to do something with their implementation so it works well with their other equipment and very often not with other brands.

If you want to use your DNS-320 as home for your movies you will need to search the forum for funplug and DNLA server.

Thanks for your advice. I have already installed ffp 0.7 and minidlna. I can confirm that streaming 2gig 3d movie is working. I haven't tried subtitles or anything larger than that.
