Need Help w/Open Nat w/2-xbl360
« on: January 28, 2014, 12:06:33 PM »

Hello all. This is my first post for my new router. I am in need of some help. I have read and read stuff but I am not networking person. I know some but not for what I need to fix this problem. Anyway, I upgraded from a Linksys E1200 to a D-link dir-655 B1 with 2.10NA. I have a cable connection from Comcast at 20mbps using a Docsis 3.0 modem. Am also using cat6 cabling.

Have used this link for help and tried to copy it the best for me, but still feel I either did it wrong or not completely correct. http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42011.0

The problem I am having has to do with 1 xbox360 wired, 1 xbox360 wireless and 1 xbox1 wired. While all on the network at once or only two, I have NAT problems. I am looking to find out or get help on how to correct this. The 2 wired systems are mine and the 1 wireless system is my girlfriend. So you can see where this is causing a problem.

I have seen in some cases that there is a link of something called teamviewer or something. If that is what helps me fix my problem to have someone else set it up for me. Then that is awesome. In advance, thanks for any help. :'(

Link>Welcome!

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Have you factory reset the network settings on each xbox, then turn them off then back on then check NAT status?

What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
Motorola SB6120

I did the factory reset on the 360s. The 1, I am not sure it is possible without erasing the whole drive.

With the 360s:
wired - open nat
wireless - moderate nat

One:
Strict

Have noticed at times, when I am on already and wired, I have an open Nat. Soon as my girlfriend gets on here box wireless, she goes moderate and I am strict.

Is there a way to view what I have put in the router to see if I've did it right?

Can post a screen capture of your QoS settings by sending your files to photobucket or imageshack then copy and past the IMG url here in the forums. It will display the picture.

Ok, so the QoS needs changing, Remove the Single Xbox rule as that is incorrect.

Leave the multiple xbox rule. Thats set up correctly. I would ensure that all xboxes have reserved IPs with the following: 192.168.0.100, 192.168.0.101, 192.168.0.102

Then just change the 192.168.0.106 address to .102.

While you make the changes, ensure the xboxes are turned off.

OK I have removed the Single Xbox rule.

The xboxs aren't in numeral order
101
104
106

Would it be better to change the settings in each system to say
110
111
112

And then make the change on the router. Or keep it at automatic?

NO, Please reserve the IP addresses ON the router. Do not set static IPs on the consoles!

I recommend setting .197, .198 and .199 for the xboxes. It's what I use.

Then change the multi xbox rule IP range to the following: From 192.168.0.197 To 192.168.0.199

Ok so I changed on the Multi xbox to 197 to 199

I noticed also about something called multi xbox gobal. Is that something I need to have also?

And with the changes I made on the router for 197 to 199, the xboxes will automatically change their ip to 197, 198, 199?

Try the specific rule first, if this rule doesn't work, change to the Global example. Its only for the Remote IP addressing is all..

You'll need to make sure that those xbox IP addresses are reserved on the router under Setup/Networking.

You'll see a listing of Dynamic devices at the bottom of the page, select Reserve. This will auto fill the Add IP reservation section. Change the IP address you see here to the 197 thru 199 per each xbox. Select Add and Save changes when done. Reboot. While the router reboots turn OFF the xboxes for a minute or two. Then turn back on, they should have the new IP addresses 197 thru 199 for each box.

OK I have done everything you have showed me. All xboxes connected and are in order 197 to 199. It look like they are all open NAT. I am unable to test for online gaming at same time right now.

So could you explain the multi xbox gobal? I have it typed on the router... Forgot to screen shot it. But I unchecked the box, so it wouldn't mix up everything else.

I assume that if this way doesn't work, I just uncheck multi xbox. Check multi xbox gobal and change the numbers to end in 197 to 199 and it will work as well.

Global is just the Remote IP address connections are possible from any range from 0.0.0.1  to 255.255.255.254. We found that MS only uses a portion of that range mostly thus the specific Remote IP range between 62 thru 65.
