So I have a DNS 320 that is dead (bad ethernet port). Can I take the orginal DNS 320 HDDs and put them in a new DNS 320 without having to reformat? I am running Raid 1.

Yes, you can migrate RAID arrays between two DNS-320s.

Additionally, if you haven't already done so, make sure you have a full backup of any critical data on your DNS-320 before migrating your array to a new unit.

Java: Not sure if you realized that his DNS320 is dead, not sure if there's any other way for him to perform a back with his original DNS320 unit

Agreed with hongaun, a new DNS-320 is needed in order to access data from RAID drive.

Haha no problem, just teasing ya. Anyway, should be no problem dropping in the 2 hdd in the same slots into a new DNS320. just to be on the safe side make sure the new DNS 320 firmware version is similar to the previous one.

That said, so long as the firmware version is the same as the original DNS-320L and the JBOD was not damaged while in the original unit, you should be able to simply move the HDDs from the old to new unit and power-up. Please keep in mind that you need to make sure the HDDs are seated in the correct order (i.e. the HDD in slot #1 of the original DNS-320L must be placed in slot #1 of the new DNS-320L).
