Recently installed two DAP-1320 wireless range extenders to my home network. When they are powered up, my Verizon Wireless cellular extender stops working. The failure manifests itself as a rapidly blinking red "SYS" LED on the Verizon box and zero signal strength indication on my cell phone. This failure occurs about 10-15 minutes after the DAP-1320's are powered up. Unplugging the DAP-1320's will restore the Verizon extender to proper operation (solid blue "SYS" LED and multiple sig strength bars) after a short time.

I thought this might be some sort of IP address conflict because I could produce a similar failure mode on the Verizon box just by unplugging the Ethernet cable to it. I spent yesterday verifying that every wireless device on the home network is operating DHCP and each has a unique IP address, with no conflicts. I rebooted the gateway and one by one added wireless devices back onto the network, matching MAC addresses with the physical boxes and verifying the IP addresses.

Really don't want to have to choose between good Wi-Fi and good cell coverage at home. Any ideas on how to make these devices play nicely together?

The home network is an AT&T U-verse gateway/router (model 3800HGV-B). The DAP-1320's are hardware version A2, and I just upgraded the firmware yesterday to version 1.20. The Verizon box is made by Samsung and is a model SCS-26UC4. It uses a hardwired Ethernet connection behind a Netgear 5-port switch, model FS-605. The Verizon box is in the same room as the U-verse gateway, and the DAP-1320's are in other rooms of the house.

How close are the DAP from this Verizon extender?
Is this Verizon extender using 2.4Ghz frequency?
I recommend that you check with the Mfr of the Verizon extender for support information.

I'm in Glendale CA.

The U-verse router is a "2Wire" model 3800HGV-B. It only supports 802.11 b/g. I'm using WPA-PSK (TKIP) for security. Wireless channel selection is set for "AUTO" and power is set to 400 mw. Right now it's on channel 6, 2437 Mhz.

I have the pdf manual, such as it is, for the Verizon/Samsung SCS-26UC4, and it contains no information as to what frequencies are used. I'm presuming that it is 2.4 Ghz. The manual doesn't give much information concerning set up or IP address assignments. The box is pretty much plug and play (pray?). Most of their remedies involve "call tech support".

One DAP-1320 is in another room located about 20 feet away from the network extender, and the other DAP-1320 is in a different room, located about 30 feet away from the network extender.

If I unplug both DAP-1320's and take no other action, then the network extender recovers/restores to normal operation on its own in a few hours, overnight for sure. If I reboot the network extender with both DAP-1320's unplugged, it comes up normally and works properly.

Plugging in either one of the DAP-1320's produces the previously described failure mode on the network extender after about 45 minutes, and it is only cured by unplugging the DAP-1320.

Ok so your using the DAPs to extend the U-verse's WiFi I presume. Ya, you need to find out what the Verizon device works on. Is this device a VoIP phone signal enhancer for areas that don't get enough cell phone signal?

I use ATT and have there microcell, however it operates at what I presume is on or near the cell phone frequency so I don't see any issues on or near 2.4Ghz.

You might see if Verizon has a cell phone signal enhancer or booster that doesn't operate on 2.4Ghz. I'm surprised at this kind of operation. Does the Verizon have a web page? Does it act like a WiFi AP for WiFi devices besides cell phones? I wonder if you can turn OFF The WiFi radio for 2.4Ghz if the devcie can do this and still have the cell phone signal going.

I think this is the main issue. I presume that if you turn off the Verizon device, that the rest of the WiFi works correctly...

You have it correctly, I'm using the DAP-1320 to extend the U-verse Wi-Fi.

Yes, the Verizon network extender in use here is the Samsung SCS-26UC4 in the URL in your reply.

It functions as a micro-cell and uses my U-verse broadband connection for backhaul to the Verizon cellular network. It is only a 3G device and doesn't support Wi-Fi or 4G. There doesn't seem to be any user configuration options for the network extender other than the managed access list through the Verizon Wireless website. Sure can't access it via a browser on the home private network like I can with the U-verse 2Wire gateway or the D-link DAP-1320.

The problem hasn't been the Verizon box interfering with the home Wi-Fi network, but rather the other way around. So, yes, turning off that box has no effect on the Wi-Fi network operation. Just can't make or receive cell phone calls that way.

Do you see what IP address the microcell gets from the Modem? Only thing I can think of is that maybe the devices is using the same IP address as the DAPs maybe.

I recommend checking IP addresses on the modem and reserve the IP address for the microcell at 192.168.1.150 if the 192.168.1.# is a correct string for the pool on the modem. DAPs use 192.168.1.50 for there management.

If this doesn't work, then I presume that the issue is too much interferences between the DAP and this microcell being on the same frequency...

I solved my problem and conflict by eliminating the DAP-1320s and replacing them with (another brand) wireless router, configured as an access point and connected via Ethernet to my AT&T U-verse gateway. I migrated all Wi-Fi traffic in the house to the new access point and turned off wireless on my gateway. Since then, the Verizon Wireless network extender has functioned as well as it did before this all started, i.e. flawlessly. Because the new access point is installed higher up in the room, it provides better Wi-Fi coverage throughout the house, which was the whole point of this exercise in the first place.
