DTS support && New Firmware && Open Source
« on: July 19, 2009, 09:57:33 PM »

It would be great if MKVs with DTS audio would have the audio decoded.  Any chance of this in the next release?

Which begs the question, Will there be a next release???
Can someone from dlink at least commit to a next release, even if they cannot supply a date?

Perhaps dlink should look at the WD TV HD media player which has had multiple releases and also released most of the code to the public.  Now their are many people improving their product!!

If dlink will not support the 750, please let others!!

I have to agree. Where is the support. Consumers like all of us have spent a great deal of our money when money is tight for everyone. There are certain questions asked on this forum that should be answered to regain our support of this product (and company). Over the last 4 years I have bought 5 DSM-520's (mostly handed out as Christmas gifts), 2 DSM-750's that I try to use everyday (albeit not without some problems), and 2 DIR-655's. That's over $1000 worth of support. Where is the customer support? If changes cannot be made (for whatever reason), then made the code open for us to tinker with..... ???

Anyone else agree? Yes or No.

Guys I totally agree with you. There are hundreds of thousands open source community developer devotee out there that are much more willing to improve the product for consumer satisfaction. I guess this is the question wether a few handfull Dlink developer would be much willing to share their codes and accept the fact that there are a lot more developer out there that can do better. Clearly it is a question of "alter ego". However, if you look at the consumption side of the product, certainly there will be a certain increase on demand of the product because consumer knows that the product itself can be improve. This is a win win situation for both dlink and consumers. Just take a look at linksys product. Most of their product now can be upgraded by a third party firmware.

Cheers. :)
