Motion detection not quick enough?
« on: March 05, 2014, 05:27:56 AM »

Hi

I've setup my camera to record cars coming through my gate.  As a car goes past i receive an email alert with two images.  I assume the before and after.

More often than not, the two images are the same, showing nothing at all in the frame.  It's as though the software senses motion, then records the frame and the time between these two events is enough for the event ( the vehicle in my case) to go out of shot.

Any ideas ?

When you configured the event to capture motion detection, did you configure the camera to send pre-event images?

SETUP > Event Setup > Media Type > Snapshot > Send ___ pre-event image(s) [0-4]

Thanks for your reply.  It's set for 1 pre and 1 post event image, but i've now set it for the maximum (3 and 7) to see if that helps.

One event has triggered thus far with the new settings.   I received 3 images, all appear to show only the pre-event.

...as i type another event has triggered.   This time 10 images.  Again all show the pre-event.

Arghh....

Did you also configure the post-event images (0-7)?

ok, so i finally got it working.

The trick is to first set the maximum number of pre-events and maximum number of post-events (3 & 7).   I then noticed my event appearing on frame 5 out of the 10 in total (3+7).   So I've now set pre-events to 0 and post events to 4 and this seems to work fine.

I'm glad you got everything working properly.
Common oversight!
