GOING INSANE over snapshot with Gmail and Virgin Media!!!
« on: March 29, 2014, 06:40:28 AM »

Hi, this camera arrived this morning, and I've been at this thing since.

Connected fine, updated firmware fine, used iphone app fine etc (all WITHIN home).
Camera is connected wireless fine.

I can't get a single  ??? email to work through gmail.
I found a faq on here but it didn't mention SSSL/TLS option at bottom.

I have entered the following (this is ridiculous, god help a newbie to all this)..... ;

recipient === myemailaddy@gmail.com
smtp=== smtp.gmail.com
port === 587 (I've tried 465 and 25)
username === myemailusername         ........... NOT myemailaddy@gmail.com ... right??
password ==== mygmailpassword - even logged out of gmail and pasted from here to prove. I can log in.
use ssl/tls === SSL/TLS

I've restarted camera, router, logins, and am sick to death of just trying to send a snapshot before going on holiday tomoro!

I'm on Virgin Media superhub 2 with 100mb broadband (upload is about 20mb at the mo)

MANY many many thanks in advance to anyone who can solve this PLEASE! :)

Have you enabled pop for your Gmail?

Google setting up Gmail pop account if you haven't.

Else try yahoo.
Else bug in dlink software.

Can I just ask, where would I check?
In settings under pop etc it does say pop is enabled. Is there anywhere else?? Thanks :)

This may not help, as it looks like you've done most of this already, but here are the general email settings: DCS Network Cameras - Email Settings

I had originally posted this somewhere else on this forum but reading your problem seems my problem may be related. Try factory reset then below. I was able to get working briefly until a reboot. Then same problem. Here is how I described my problem. See if your is really the same as this.

"Hoping forum can help. Received DCS-5222L camera with old firmware (v1.01, hardware version is A1). I upgraded to 1.2 when prompted by MyDlink website. Initial setup fine. Everything seemed to work. I enter device as admin and go through motion setup wizard on the setup screen and include email notification for snap shot and video motion detection, enable motion and PIR and draw frame area, and enable SD record on motion. Save setting, all works fine. I can go to live view wave hand it indicates motion and recording; and emails show-up. I go to SD management and see saved files - all is OK.

I then reboot the camera and the on motion emails stop being sent and record to SD stops recording. Seemingly no amount of fiddle with settings restores this functionality.

I have been through this starting from factory reset several times. Same result.

Seems motion event trigger goes dead after reboot; stops triggering emails and recording video to SD.

Can anyone help?"
