DIR-615 'QoS Engine' not found
« on: March 31, 2014, 01:41:07 AM »

Hi there, I'm using a DIR-615 router and I'm trying to setup the QoS for the router.

But the thing is, I went to the website by typing 192.168.0.1 and came to the DIR-615 setup screen, but under the advanced tab, the was no 'QoS Engine' or similar options to choose from.

What could be the problem? Help me please!

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Some HW versions of the 615 do not have custom QoS options, just ON or OFF. If any QoS options are on the routers UI, it should be under Advanced section listing...

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

If this feature is not with this model router, a different DIR series router is probably needed. Ask them on which model would best work for you.

Good Luck.

Alright thanks. But anyways, the reason I'm doing this is because whenever I play online games, my sisters watching YouTube videos would interrupt the line and cause my ping to rise.

Any help for that?

You need to get into a router that has QoS custom features so you can set up some prioritization for users watching videos while you game. The 615 might not be able to handle that currently.

You'll need a DIR 636L or higher or an 8 series class router that as the additional QoS features.

Examples routers with QoS custom features:
DIR-645/835/868L/865L/826L Gaming and QoS for XBL

Okay, thanks for the help. But I have another question, what does DHCP do?
