DSM-750 disconnects often at specific point
« on: June 14, 2009, 04:42:07 AM »

I am using this unit hard wired to a DIR-655 router. The unit was working great but the last while after I watch a show and then delete after viewing the Window Media Center appears to stop responding or I lose the connection and I have to reconnect. Any suggestions as to how to make it stop doing this?

1. Are you using Windows Media Center to watch TV?
2. How long since you restarted the computer and DSM 750?
3. If you are watching TV that you recorded, do you have the computer set up to save your recording on your external hard drive?
4. What version of windows?
5. How long is the ethernet cable from your computer to the DSM 750?
6. Have you updated to the latest firmware?

I am using Windows Media Center to watch the TV, I like being able to delete the shows once viewed. I am using Windows Vista, newest sevice packs installed. The shows are downloaded not recorded. The ethernet cable is about 20 feet. Today I have rebooted the router and the computer but have not had a chance to test this again. Seems to me however that it had no effect last time I did this but will test again anyways. The firmware on the router is 1.11 and the DSM is 1.01.071217.
While I see that the router has an upgrade to 1.31 it does not allow for a downgrade should the new firmware not work for me. Been there once upon a time, arrgh.
This recent event is not so much a huge issue as more of an annoyance and makes me wonder what has changed or what. Fixing this would be nice.
