Hi All,
I set up a DLINK DIR-860L several weeks ago. So far it works great for internet and wireless, but I'm having issues accessing a 500GB Seagate 2.5" external HDD I attached as a NAS. I can read and write to the 500GB USB drive over the network, but I have 2 problems:
a) there's a .metadata file that is put in every directory on the HDD and I can't delete these .metadata files. I can delete other files in a directory, but once a .metadata file is created, I can't delete the .metadata file or the now empty directory containing the .metadata file. This is true for any sub-directories also. The error message I see in Windows 8.1 is: "Folder Access Denied. You need permission to perform this action. You require permission from Unix User\root to make changes to this folder." But I'm logged in as admin using Shareport. What am I doing wrong? Why can't I delete files?
b) Using the DLINK management tool at http://192.168.0.1/, it allows me on the Storage page to enter multiple users and passwords, but when I try to login using any user name other than "admin" it does not recognize the password. Am I doing something wrong, or are multiple users not supported even though the http://192.168.0.1/ program will accept names and passwords for multiple users?
I'd be willing to try the firmware fix v1.08, but I'm not sure it will help. I read the short release notes description but there really wasn't any substance in there to know if v1.08 would help or not.
Thanks for any suggestions out there!
Andy
