DHP-306AV DHP-W306AV no power line connection
« on: June 16, 2014, 04:10:24 AM »

Dear all

I have (what seems to be unique) problem.  I have been using a DHP-306AV connected to my router and a DHP-W306AV for about 14 months now.  The DHP-W306AV is connected about 15 meters away in a different room, however last week it lost its powerline connection to the 306AV for no apparent reason.  I have pulled it back into the same room and it works, I have performed factory resets, upgraded to the latest firmware but nothing can get the powerline to connect for any length of time.

What does seem odd though that after boot up the powerline light shows a connection (by appearing green on the W306AV) for approximately a minute, during this time I can connect all the way out to the internet, after which it turns off (the light not the adapter) and never connects again.  I have tried manually connecting the devices via the web page (192.168.0.50) and this doesn't work either.

There has been no changes to the power situation (no new devices plugged in, or power bars connected) since I started.  If it wasn't for the fact that the device works in the same room I would have given the device up as faulty days ago.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If the devices works in the same room, I would presume that something in the power lines in your building have something going on or some sort of interference or noise on the lines between your same room and the far distant room. If the devices work well in the same room with out any issues, and it doesn't at the far room, then something in between the rooms on the lines maybe causing the device to become disconnected. I'd check the power lines if possible, turn off ALL power devices and house devices if possible and test again. You might try a large extension power line from the same room and run it down to the far end room and connect the DHP to it as a test and see if the DHP remains working. This would let you know if the DHP is working there or not.
