Emails mysteriously stop between 12pm and 4pm
« on: June 04, 2014, 02:13:38 PM »

Real weird. I have 3 cameras set up for motion detection. For unknown reasons I get no email roughly between 12pm and 4pm, then they start. It has happened for several days now including today. There are no timed events that I am aware of. What is interesting is that all 3 behave like this. Could it be an external factor, like the router? I don't know if it is a coincidence but this all started when I added a 3rd camera.

The "mystery" is really no mystery but still a problem. For some reason the username/password fails during this period. The exact same authentication works earlier or later in the day. The outage period seems to shift too. Today, I had no email between 12:12pm and 1:38pm, then nothing again after 1:58pm until now, 4:30pm. Could it be the gmail server?

What is your ISP service? Cable or DSL?
What Mfr and model ISP modem do you have?
What host WiFi router do you have that the camera is connected to?

One thing you can do, have someone or you send a email during this time frame from this location to see if a PC email can be successfully sent. If it goes, then I presume the problem maybe else where...

My current motion settings generates lots of alerts, in the hundreds. I suspect gmail is blocking them as spam.   My ISP is Comcast but not sure if they have a hand in this. I know for sure that the username/pw is not the issue because the alerts resume.
