DWR-512 Setting up 3G for T-Mobile (Germany)
« on: July 31, 2014, 10:35:35 AM »

Hi there,
I'm just getting crazy about my new DWR-512B1 3G-Router.
I tried to connect to T-Mobile (Germany), without success so far.
I found several How-To's about setting up the connection.
I tried out several combinations of APN, User and Password. But no one worked.
The SIM-Card works properly in my old Web'n'walk-Box IV.
Even when I retype the entries of the W'n'W into the DWR it doesn't work.
The system tells me it is connecting.... but nothing else happens.
Just installed the latest firmware -> no changes  :-\

You have to be very patient to try out several different entries. Every change needs 1 minute of reboot-time...

And besides that the pictures shown in the manual are diffrent from the menu in the box.
Seems to be version A.

Hope that someone is able to prevent me from getting crazy about that.
Btw. throwing the dwr out of te window is not a good idea, it doesn't fly as well as a smartphone, I guess. ;)

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Hi, it's me again.
I got it (in parts I think) :'(

Setting the dial-up-profile to "manual" I was able to setup the connection.
(That was the hint from the support)

I tried several entries to get the best result. This is, what I entered:
APN: internet.t-d1.de
User/Password: t-mobile/tm or internet/t-d1

Now the connection is starting up getting a public IP-Address.
But I automatically just get private IP-Adresses as DNS-Servers, not knowing how to change that.  :-\

Awesome info.

Might see if there is a DNS Relay option. I know on DIR series routers, if this is enabled, clients only get the routers private IP address for DNS, if it's disabled, the router passes public or ISP DNS addresses to the clients. Maybe the DWR has a similar feature.

Hope this helps others and thank you for the feedback.

Enjoy.  ;)
