Hi all,

At first, I want to say that I am totally newbie with this kind of issues.

I bought a D-Link DNS-320 ShareCenter 2-Bay Network Storage and a Western Digital Red WD10EFRX - Disco duro interno, 1TB, SATA/600 - 64MB Buffer.

My intention is to have a store unit in home for backup, photos, and small file access from the internet.

I'm working with Windows 7.

When deployed the HD in the ShareCenter, I was unable to detect de unit with the Setup Withard (the DNS-320 did no appear). But searching on the internet, I saw that the Upnp was to be enabled at the router. I entered in the router and enable Upnp with success :)... Back to the Setup Wizard, I was able to detect the DNS-320 but... here come the challenge for me!

I follow the steps to configure with the setup wizard but it remains blocked in some of the steps randomly. I mean, sometimes it gets blocked in the hour setup screen or in the DDNS settings... the software gets blocked and I only can reset the DNS-320 and the setup wizard software and start again...

What do you think?

How can I update the firmware? connecting directly with the ethernet cable? and then?
I connected and updated using the IP of the DNS-320 (http://192.168.1.41/) following this threat.

Sorry about this simple questions but I have not idea what to do now...

I tried with other computer with same results :(

Thanks in advance!

Well!!!! I logged into the DNS-320 directly using the browser. I formated the HD with success...

Is there a way to set up the HD as a computer unit? (z: y:...)

I read in the user's manual... when you are running the setup wizard there is a way to set up a unit (z:) but accessing directly from the browser? is there a way?

Thanks in advance!

I might take you up on that since I pop over the border to La Junquere frequently  to do some shopping ;)

Getting access to the DNS-320 from the internet is not too difficult depending on what services you want to use.  The main problem occurs if your ISP blocks the standard ports of some services.  There are descriptions of what to do to get the unit on line in this forum and the DNS-323 forum - it is just a case of searching for what you need to know but, as always, if you get to a stage where there is a problem just ask.

Thanks Ivan!

I was last two weeks in Brest and passed over la Junquere. Maybe we can solve my debt soon :)

Next days I will look to do that you say about the internet connection... we will see! :)

Thank you all! I was reading the forum last days and finally everything is working fine.

By now, I can access by LAN and over the Internet with FTP/Web UI...

I wonder I can mount a unit or handle some files simulteneously using the Web UI but for the internet use but i saw that's not possible.

Thank you a lot guys!!!
